Storyville Records was founded over 50 years ago by the late great Karl Knudsen.

Considered by many to be the Blue Note of Europe, the label has recorded some of the most influential and creative jazz and blues players in the world.  With a list too numerous to mention, a few selected highlights would be:

JAZZ:
Thelonious Monk
Dexter Gordon
Woody Herman
Louis Armstrong
Billie Holiday
Earl Hines
Duke Ellington
Charlie Parker
Stan Getz
Gene Krupa
Miles Davis
BLUES:
Champion Jack Dupree
Sonny Boy Williamson
Memphis Slim
Snooks Eaglin
Jimmy Dawkins
Big Bill Broonzy
Otis Spann
Big Joe Williams
Lonnie Johnson
Eddie Clearwater

In 1998, Knudsen decided to branch out with a full roster label in the United States.  The first signing for this endeavor was blues/jazz guitarist and producer Barry Levenson.  Because of Levenson's expertise, experience and production talents, Knudsen hired him to do A&R and producing for the label.

The first signings were tenor saxophone legend Elliott Chavers, Delta guitar wizard Jake Matson, and the incredible blues stylist Jake Sampson.  With many new releases planned for the future plus re-releasing of old classic masters, Storyville will be an important part of the rich, ongoing blues tradition.
